Treating Car Accident Whiplash
Chiropractic care – Chiropractic adjustments help to carefully realign the body over a series of chiropractic sessions back to its natural position. For whiplash victims, this can be enough to reduce the symptoms of the injury while it heals.
Physiotherapy – Completed either by chiropractors or physical therapists, physiotherapy can help with whiplash through manual adjustments, manipulations, stretching, massage, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and more. Physiotherapy helps to decrease pain and muscle spasms, remove toxins from the affected area, and increase blood flow for faster healing.
Spinal Decompression – This whiplash treatment uses a specialized table to release pressure in the spine. Patients lie down on the decompression table and lift their legs up onto a bar, which helps keep them at a 90° angle. When the table is turned on, it slowly and gently pulls and releases, slowly lengthening the spine. This creates a change in pressure within the spine, not only bringing about pain relief, but also pulling nutrients into the intervertebral discs.
Injections – A numbing medication and/or anti-inflammatory corticosteroid can be injected directly into the area where whiplash pain is felt. Epidural Steroid injections can help to reduce pain in the legs and arms caused by damage to the nerves. Also available are facet joint injections, which help to alleviate pain caused by vertebrae injured during the accident.
Cold Laser – AICA Orthopedics’ state-of-the-art equipment utilizes light beams of a specific wavelength that interacts with tissues to promote healing for whiplash victims. Cold laser therapy encourages blood vessels to expand and increases circulation to the injured area and helps to produce enzymes. Increased circulation provides an anti-inflammatory effect that is incredibly effective at managing pain and speeding up recovery.
Surgery – For the most severe whiplash cases, it may be required to realign the spine and neck or repair any whiplash-related injuries like a herniated disc. After surgery, you can continue care at AICA with physical therapy.

- Injections – A numbing medication and/or anti-inflammatory corticosteroid can be injected directly into the area where whiplash pain is felt. Epidural Steroid injections can help to reduce pain in the legs and arms caused by damage to the nerves.
